Remember the anime? Ash couldn't beat Onix with Pikachu. In the BEST version of this ROM, the game forces a narrative. You cannot simply grind your way to victory against Brock. You must follow the anime logic: capturing a Caterpie, evolving it into Metapod/Butterfree, or using the "Sprinkler System" Easter egg in the Gym to short-circuit Onix.
