In 1966, Navy pilot Dieter Dengler is shot down over Laos during a classified mission. Captured by the Pathet Lao, he is subjected to brutal torture before being sent to a makeshift POW camp. There, he meets fellow prisoners Duane Martin () and Gene DeBruin ( Jeremy Davies ).
