Residential and small-office routers frequently contain security vulnerabilities that remain unpatched due to complex or inconsistent firmware update procedures. ZTE routers, widely deployed in multiple regions, lack a standardized open-source update utility. This paper presents the design, implementation, and evaluation of a —a cross-platform Python-based utility that automates firmware detection, download, validation, and flashing for supported ZTE router models (e.g., ZXHN H298A, MF283U). The tool uses HTTP/HTTPS requests, checksum verification, and safe recovery mechanisms. Experimental results show a 98.2% success rate across 110 test runs, with an average update time of 4 minutes 22 seconds, reducing manual update effort by 89%. The tool is released under the MIT license. Advanced tools may include self-tests for SMART attributes,
