By analyzing three primary “storylines”—the fairytale romance with Britney Spears, the transactional “villain origin” with Cameron Diaz, and the redemptive marriage to Jessica Biel—this study argues that Timberlake’s artistic output has consistently used romantic conflict and resolution as a primary lyrical and promotional engine.
