The movie begins with a cryptic message from the past. During a school construction project in Lexington, Massachusetts, a time capsule is unearthed, containing a series of cryptic messages written on scraps of paper. Among them is a sequence of numbers: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42. These numbers are discovered etched on the wrist of a small boy, Lucinda Embry (Chandler Canterbury), who had mysteriously written them down years ago.
